No Strings Attached was surprisingly fun, and had some really entertaining moments. I went in with pretty unclear expectations about the movie, and was surprised to see a romantic comedy which was not the standard fare. Natalie Portman’s character (Emma) was fun and sweet, despite a bit of an edge which slowly wears down throughout the movie.
If you have ever wondered, “How can you combine Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, and get something that isnt as funny as either one of them individually?” then Dilemna is the movie with your answer. Though there are some funny moments throughout, Queen Latifah gets some of the funniest lines in the movie and she has less than 10 minutes of on-screen time.
The Green Hornet is a funny revisit of a made-for-the-screen IP which does the superhero genre right. It has the right mix of action, comedy, and not-too-over-the-top moments to keep it fun throughout the movie. Definitely worth seeing, if you are looking for a laugh.
Season of the Witch was a decent flick – some slightly better writing and a focus more on the interesting part of the story might have made it better. It felt a bit like a movie which had already spent its effects budget, and made the best of it. I’m apparently one of the rare few people who like Nicolas Cage, so I went in hoping this would be an interesting flick…
Tangled was surprisingly touching, though I can’t comment on how accurate it was to the original Rapunzel story. This movie had some great imagery, entertaining storyline, and enough musical numbers to remind you that this is a movie in the tradition of the classic Disney movies you grew up with.
